Amendment to the Nova Gorica Detailed Spatial Plan

In the municipality of Nova Gorica, we are preparing amendments and additions to the Municipal Detailed Spatial Plan (OPPN) for a large and important area in the very center of the city. The area in question is one of the key hubs of city life, where cultural, service, and recreational activities intertwine.

With the amendments to the OPPN, we want to provide a legal basis for the further development of central city activities, while preserving and upgrading the high-quality green spaces that give the city its distinctive character.

Location and boundaries of the area

The area is located in the cadastral municipality of Nova Gorica (2304) and is bounded by key city access roads:

West: Kidričeva Street

North and east: Vojkova Road

South: Tolminskih puntarjev Street

Existing infrastructure and purpose

There are currently ten buildings with different purposes in this area, which form the backbone of city life. Among them, the following stand out:

Cultural and educational institutions: Slovenian National Theatre (SNG) and France Bevk Library of Goriška.

Entertainment and tourism: Large casino in the northern part of the area.

Business and administrative part: Numerous buildings with administrative and service activities.

Green areas and urban design

Although the western part of the area is predominantly built up, the eastern part retains contact with nature and offers space for relaxation:

City park: A landscaped park area in the east, intended for walkers and recreation.

Edvard Kardelj Square: A grassy park on the southwestern side that serves as an important public space.
