Renovation and reconstruction of the regional road Podlom–Kranjski Rak–Luče

As part of the cooperation with the Slovenian Infrastructure Agency, we have prepared project documentation (DPP) for the extensive reconstruction of a 16-kilometer section of the regional road RT-924/3559. The project is crucial for restoring the traffic connection between Kamnik and Luče, which was severely affected by the devastating floods of August 2023.

Challenges and purpose of the project

The route runs through demanding mountainous terrain with slopes of up to 12%. The main goal of the project is the comprehensive repair of the damaged roadway, ensuring the stability of the road surface, and increasing traffic safety along the entire section.

• Key project highlights:
  
  Flood damage restoration: Reconstruction of the state road and all associated supporting and retaining structures that were damaged in the natural disaster.
  Route structures: Based on a detailed survey (IGMAT d.d. report), the project addresses the restoration of as many as 122 existing structures (walls, pavings, culverts).
  Traffic improvement: Widening of the roadway at critical points, which will allow safe passage of relevant vehicles, and adjustment of road connections.
  Safety in settlements: Arrangement of pedestrian areas through the settlements of Luče, Podveža, and Podvolovljek.
  New intersection layout: Reconstruction of the blind three-way intersection in Podlom (connection to the Stahovica–Črnivec road).

Technical Division of Sections

Section Podlom – Podvolovljek (km 0.000 to 4.340)
The section features a steep ascent and challenging terrain configuration.

Pavement Rehabilitation: From km 0.500 onwards, a complete reconstruction of the damaged pavement structure and drainage ditches is planned.
Connection Optimization: Improvement of forest and individual connections, which currently lack proper gradients.

Section through the settlement of Podvolovljek to Luče (km 4.340 to 15.971)
The route passes through forest areas and along the Lučnica stream.

Road Widening: The existing carriageway (width 3.5–4.5 m) will be upgraded for safer traffic.
