PZI for the construction of a national cycling route on the section Ajdovščina - Col

• In cooperation with the Slovenian Infrastructure Agency, we are preparing project documentation for the construction of a national cycling route (DKP) on the Ajdovščina–Col section. This is a key part of the wider regional cycling route R4, which connects Logatec, Col, Ajdovščina, and Komen.

  The comprehensive development of the area includes the construction of two new roundabouts on the local road and the development of areas for pedestrians and cyclists on the regional road. The purpose of the development of the state road is to ensure a safe crossing for pedestrians across the state road and to provide areas for cyclists and pedestrians, which will follow the planned development of the area on the edge of the settlement of Ajdovščina. A traffic light-controlled pedestrian crossing across the state road is planned.

  Mini urban roundabouts along Bevkova Street increase traffic safety in the school area for the most vulnerable road users. The renovation of Bevkova Street includes a complex traffic solution that ensures the highest level of safety and comfort for various traffic purposes in the sensitive school area (accessibility for the local population, drop-off for school needs, bus transport for schoolchildren, arrangement of a long-distance cycle route). Another challenge is the arrangement of municipal infrastructure, particularly the drainage of rainwater from the wider area of influence.

  Objectives of the arrangement and infrastructure interventions
  The main purpose of the project is to provide a safe and unobstructed route for cyclists while improving the flow and safety of general traffic. The planned interventions include:

  New roundabouts: Three existing intersections will be converted into roundabouts, which will contribute to greater visibility.

  Safety of pedestrians and cyclists: Construction of dedicated bicycle lanes and sidewalks along the entire route.

  Traffic calming: Implementation of modern measures to reduce speed through residential areas.

  Modern equipment: Comprehensive installation of public lighting, storm drains, and new horizontal and vertical traffic signals.
