Project implementation and traffic study for the renovation of Maribor city center

The city center of Maribor is quite congested in the area of Strosmayerjeva, Slovenska, and Gregorčičeva streets. The aim of the project is to redesign the existing streets to make them more pedestrian- and cyclist-friendly. The project introduces modern traffic solutions that will improve traffic flow and safety in the city center of Maribor. Based on a traffic study and a microsimulation model of existing traffic flows during morning and afternoon rush hours, our team of experts has prepared an optimization of the traffic arrangement as part of the project for the implementation of (PZI), which will increase traffic flow at existing intersections and improve areas for pedestrians and cyclists.

Key innovations include:

  • New mini urban roundabout: At the intersection of Strossmayerjeva and Gregorčičeva streets.
  • Traffic light modernization: Reconstruction of the Strossmayerjeva–Slovenska–Gosposvetska intersection.
  • Comprehensive street renovation: Reconstruction of Strossmayer Street (250 m long) and complete renovation of Slovenska and Gospejina Streets
  • Improvements to areas for pedestrians and cyclists;
  • Increased traffic safety;
